October 5, 2018

HOMICIDE

During the early morning hours of Sunday, September 30, 2018 William Talley was shot in the 2800 block of Summit Arbor Circle north of Raleigh-LaGrange Road. Police were called by a passerby and Talley was pronounced dead. A preliminary investigation showed that Talley was sitting in a car when he was approached by a black male wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans, with a black or brown bandana covering his face. The suspect shot Talley and fled.

HOMICIDE

A report of a shooting brought Memphis Police officers to the intersection of Kaye and White Station roads Sunday evening, September 23, 2018.

Officers arrived and found an unresponsive black male lying in the roadway. He was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Memphis Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Suspects were last seen occupying a four-door white vehicle and traveling southbound on White Station, according to potential witnesses.

The victim has been identified as Jerald Holiday Jr. No other information was available to police and investigators need help. Anyone with information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers, 528-CASH (2274).

September 14, 2018

HOMICIDE

A Memphis Police officer on routine patrol at 1:32 a.m. Sunday, September 9, 2018 spotted a suspicious vehicle parked at the gas pumps at the Exxon service station at 4675 South Third St. The officer investigated and found a large amount of blood in the vehicle and a blood trail leading away.

Help was called and after an extensive search a man’s body was found in a nearby wooded area. The victim, Prentice Pleas, apparently suffered a gunshot wound and fled the scene on foot until he collapsed. Pleas was pronounced dead by Memphis Fire Department paramedics. HOMICIDE

It was 12:44 a.m. on September 4, 2018 when Memphis Police officers responded to a shooting call at Fire Station Number 10, 148 South Parkway East. On arrival officers found Christopher Reed, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Memphis Fire Dept. paramedics pronounced Reed dead.

An initial investigation revealed that Reed was inside a home in the 1800 block of Farrington Drive in the Riverside neighborhood when unidentified subjects fired shots into the home. HOMICIDE

Memphis Police officers stationed at the Crump precinct responded to a shooting call in the 2200 block of Griggs Ave. just north of Chelsea Ave. on Saturday, August 18, 2018.
They found Keith Jenkins lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound. Memphis Fire Department personnel responded to render aid but the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

More than 30 shell casings were found and multiple homes and vehicles in the area were damaged by gunfire. Investigators need help solving this crime. Anyone with information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 528-CASH (2274).

HOMICIDE

The Memphis Police responded to a “man down” call in the 5500 block of Winchester Road near Emerald Street on Wednesday, August 15, 2018. A worker at a nursery had discovered a body under a tree at the rear of the business.

The victim was identified as Stanley Jordan, Jr. and his death ruled by the Shelby County Medical Examiner as a homicide from a gunshot wound. No other information has been discovered. Anyone with information on this murder is asked to call CrimeStoppers, 528-CASH (2274) with a tip.

Crime of the Week #30

August 17, 2018

HOMICIDE

At 6:45 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2018 Memphis Police Department’s Tillman Street precinct received a call about a shooting in the 2400 block of Carnes Avenue, just east of Airways Blvd. Officers arrived to find a victim suffering from a gunshot wound on a house’s front porch. He said he had been on nearby Whittington when shooting started and he ran to Carnes to escape the gunfire. There he discovered he had been shot.

Officers proceeded to Whittington and found Christopher Finley lying in the street. He had been shot several times and was pronounced dead on the scene. Crime of the Week #29

August 8, 2018

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police responded to a shooting call in the area of 4700 Violet Street in the Berclair neighborhood at 2:33 a.m. Sunday, July 29, 2018. Officers arrived to find a robbery victim. The man said that he and another man named Mauricio Merlos were riding in a truck when their vehicle was bumped from behind by a black car.

When the men stopped to investigate damage they were robbed of their personal belongings by a man in the car. The man had some kind of covering on his face. The victim advised he then heard a gunshot but could not find Merlos. As officers began to investigate the crime scene a homeowner in the 4700 block of Violet called police to report a body in the back yard. Merlos, 19, was found there and pronounced dead on the scene.

July 27, 2018

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police Department officers from the North Main station responded to a shooting call at Martin Luther King Boulevard and Dunlap Street at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2018. Officers soon arrived and found John Wilson on the ground. He was suffering from a gunshot wound and was unresponsive.

Wilson was transported to Regional One where he was pronounced dead on arrival. A witness told officers that Wilson and he were walking on Walnut Street when the occupants of a black Infinity G35 began to shoot at them. Several casings were recovered from the street. July 20, 2018

HOMICIDE

A call came in to the Memphis Police Department’s Airways Station at 8 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2018 about a shooting. Responding officers arrived at a business at 3041 Park Avenue to find two gunshot victims.

Christopher Martin was transported to Regional One in critical condition. A second victim was transported to the hospital in non-critical condition. A witness reported hearing several shots and then seeing two males run from the business and jump into a gray Chevrolet Lumina which sped away. Martin died at the hospital from his injuries.
