July 27, 2018

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police Department officers from the North Main station responded to a shooting call at Martin Luther King Boulevard and Dunlap Street at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2018. Officers soon arrived and found John Wilson on the ground. He was suffering from a gunshot wound and was unresponsive.

Wilson was transported to Regional One where he was pronounced dead on arrival. A witness told officers that Wilson and he were walking on Walnut Street when the occupants of a black Infinity G35 began to shoot at them. Several casings were recovered from the street. July 20, 2018

HOMICIDE

A call came in to the Memphis Police Department’s Airways Station at 8 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2018 about a shooting. Responding officers arrived at a business at 3041 Park Avenue to find two gunshot victims.

Christopher Martin was transported to Regional One in critical condition. A second victim was transported to the hospital in non-critical condition. A witness reported hearing several shots and then seeing two males run from the business and jump into a gray Chevrolet Lumina which sped away. Martin died at the hospital from his injuries.

July 13, 2018

HOMICIDE

A shooting call brought a quick response by the Memphis Police on Friday, July 6, 2018 to 1385 Snowden Avenue, near Jackson Avenue. Officers found Lillian Cole, 22, lying on a front porch. She was unresponsive and suffering from several gunshot wounds. A second victim was also on the porch and had gunshot wounds to the legs.

Cole was pronounced dead on the scene. The second victim was transported to Regional One Health in critical condition. Officers determined that while the victims were walking towards the house at 1385 Snowden, a white four-door vehicle occupied by two suspects started firing guns. The victims were struck while trying to seek cover on the front porch. The suspects’ vehicle was last seen going south on Watkins St. Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call CrimeStoppers, (901) 528-CASH (2274).

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police Officers assigned to the Crump Station responded to a shooting on Saturday, June 30, 2018 in an alley off the 700 block of Porter Street, near Booker T. Washington High School and Elmwood Cemetery. Officers found Ralph Ford, 37, lying on the ground and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso and head. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police responded to a shooting report on Thursday, May 17, 2018. Officers responded to 2542 Lamar Ave. in the Bethel Grove neighborhood and found Michael Malone, 32, on the ground and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso and arms. Malone was transported to Regional One Medical Center by Memphis Fire Department Ambulance where he died of his injuries.

Suspects were possibly inside a silver or grey Ford Focus. Anyone with information about this homicide case is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2274). Tips leading to arrests are awarded in cash.

June 22, 2018

HOMICIDE – SOLVED

Joshua Strong, 18, was shot several times as he waited in the parking lot of a barber shop at 6870 Hillshire Drive near Whitten Road on Friday June 15, 2018. Witnesses inside the shop said they heard multiple shots being fired. A male wearing a white t-shirt was seen walking around the victim’s vehicle.

Strong moments later was found sitting in his vehicle and suffering from the gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene soon after officers arrived. Anyone with information about this killing is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 528-CASH (2274) for a reward. All tips are kept anonymous.

June 15, 2018

HOMICIDE

It was a year ago — Sunday, June 11, 2017 — when two-year-old Laylah Washington was shot near the intersection of Kirby Parkway and Winchester Road in southeast Memphis. Minutes before the shooting the victim’s mother had been involved in a verbal altercation with four males in a black four-door sedan that had been driving recklessly in the 6600 block of Winchester.

One of the male passengers fired shots out of the sedan’s window toward the victim’s vehicle, striking Laylah. Two days later, she died from her injuries. HOMICIDE

Memphis Police responds to a shooting call at 2734 Fizer Road, near Pendleton Street, on Tuesday, May 22, 2018. Officers arrived and found Vallen Conner sitting in her 2004 Dodge Stratus and suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead on the scene by responding paramedics.

A second victim found in the car was transported to Regional One in critical condition. Suspects in a tan Chevy Trailblazer were described as several male blacks who fired multiple rounds. This investigation needs the public’s assistance. Call CrimeStoppers at 528-CASH (2274).

May 18, 2018

HOMICIDE

Reports of a shooting and a “man down” in a field in the vicinity of Wilson and Tulane Roads in Whitehaven brought Memphis Police to the scene at 8:50 a.m. Sunday, May 13, 2018. On arrival officers found Cornelius Swopshire, 65, lying on the ground, unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds. Swopshire was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness told police that a male dressed in black ran and jumped into a black Jeep or SUV parked nearby and drove away. Anyone with information on this homicide is asked to contact CrimeStoppers, 528-CASH (2274).

May 11, 2018

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police Department received a call about shots fired at 495 N. Watkins Street, off Cleveland Street and near the new Crosstown Concourse. It was 9:17 p.m., Sunday, May 6, 2018. Officers responded and found six male gunshot victims inside a gray Chevy Impala.

Dejuan Hill, 18 was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. DeAndre Rogers, also 18, was taken to Regional One Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The other four victims, all teenagers, survived their injuries. Suspects are believed to have fired multiple shots from a gold-colored and box-styled vehicle, which fled the scene.
