July 3, 2020

HOMICIDE

A 2:44 a.m. report of a shooting sent officers from the Raines Station to the 5000 block of Horn Lake Road Friday, June 26, 2020. When they arrived in the Westwood neighborhood of south Memphis the officers found Tanesha McFadgon sitting in a gray Honda Civic and unresponsive.

Memphis Fire Department paramedics arrived and pronounced McFadgon dead. Officers ascertained that the victim had visited the Mini Mart a block away. She was returning home when she was shot. No other details were available.

June 26, 2020

HOMICIDE

The Memphis Police Department received a call at 11:30 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2020 of a shooting in the 3300 block of Covington Pike, north of Stage Road. Officers from the Austin Peay precinct were dispatched. At the scene they found gunshot victims, including one who died.

Edward Fouse was pronounced dead by Memphis Fire Department personnel at the scene. Officers learned that Fouse and several other people were standing under a carport when suspects nearby opened fire, striking Fouse and other victims with bullets.

June 5, 2020

HOMICIDE

It was one year ago — Friday, June 7, 2019 — when Memphis Police officers from the Tillman Station responded to a shooting at 152 E. Parkway North, the parking lot of Greater Lewis Street Missionary Baptist Church, in Midtown. There officers found Glenn Cofield lying behind his vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics.

Cofield and his wife had just returned to their vehicle after attending a fundraising event at a nearby home. Suspects left the parking lot via Poplar Avenue. May 29, 2020

HOMICIDE

The time was approaching 5 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2020 when Memphis Police officers were sent from the Crump Station to the scene of a shooting in the 400 block of Cambridge Ave., just south of East McLemore Ave. They found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Memphis Fire Dept. paramedics took the victim to Regional One where the man was pronounced dead.

Officers learned that shots had been fired from two vehicles near the intersection of Cambridge and S. Wellington St. No other information was available. Police need help solving this homicide. Anyone with information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers, 528-CASH (2274).

Crime of the Week #16

May 22, 2020

HOMICIDE

On Sunday, May 24, 2015, Army Sergeant Calvin Wilhite Jr. and his fiancé were leaving Beale Street, walking down South Fourth Street. Just past the FedEx Forum Wilhite became involved in a verbal altercation with two males who pulled up next to them in a vehicle.

The couple attempted to avoid the confrontation and crossed the street. The driver of the vehicle, apparently apologizing, coaxed Wilhite back into the street when the passenger of the vehicle opened fire on him. The vehicle fled the scene southbound on S. Fourth St. across Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. Calvin Wilhite was transported to Regional One where he later succumbed to his injuries. The Shelby County Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide.

The driver of the vehicle was described as a male, black, 22-25 years of age, light complexion, with hazel eyes, wearing a high fade with curls on top. The passenger was described as a male, black, medium to dark complexion, with a chubby face, 22-25 years of age and a fade hairstyle. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a green or gray four-door Chrysler Sebring.

Crime of the Week #15

May 15, 2020

HOMICIDE

A report of a shooting came to the Memphis Police Department’s Tillman station at just before 2 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2020. Officers dispatched to the scene in the 500 block of Boston Street, near Southern Avenue, found Leroy Stuckey in the residence. He was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Paramedics from the Memphis Fire Department arrived and pronounced Stuckey dead at the scene. The initial investigation showed that the victim was asleep in his bed when shots were fired into the house.

Crime of the Week #14

May 8, 2020

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police officers were dispatched by the Mt. Moriah station to the 4000 block of Barron Avenue in southeast Memphis to check reports of a shooting. It was 11 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2020.

On arrival the officers found two male gunshot victims inside a car. The two men were pronounced dead at the scene by Memphis Fire Department paramedics. A third shooting victim was found at a nearby hospital. He survived his wounds.

Officers learned that all the men were in a car together when unknown suspects fired shots into the car. The shooter or shooters fled in what was described as a small four-door sedan, possibly a Nissan Sentra.

May 1, 2020

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police received a call about an apparent dead person at the Mount Moriah station about 1:45 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2020. Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Titus Street near E. Mallory Avenue in East Memphis.

The officers found an apparent gunshot victim inside a blue Chevy Camaro. Tony Wallace was pronounced dead on the scene by arriving Fire Department paramedics. The victim’s body apparently had been in the car for many hours before being discovered.

April 24, 2020

HOMICIDE

It was 10:15 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2020 when the Memphis Police Department sent officers from the Ridgeway station in response to a shooting report. Officers arrived in the 3400 block of Sealy Avenue to find a gunshot victim. Kahlil Woods was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police Officers working out of the Old Allen Precinct responded to a shooting in the 800 block of Par Avenue, near Westside Park in North Memphis Saturday, April 11, 2020.

The officers soon found a young juvenile.

Aison Golden, 7, was unresponsive. Memphis Fire paramedics arrived and pronounced the boy dead at the scene.
