August 28, 2020

HOMICIDE

It was 1:47 a.m. when Memphis Police Officers were called to a shooting in the 3200 block of Morning View Drive, just west of Tchulahoma Road in the Parkway Village area. At the scene the officers found two young men who were suffering from gunshot wounds.

Tavarious Jones, 20, and Ladarious Scott, 23, were transported to Regional One Medical Center by paramedics. Scott was treated and released but Jones died. Investigators need the public’s help to solve this double-shooting and homicide. Anyone with information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers, 528-CASH (2274).

August 21, 2020

HOMICIDE

A shooting report was logged at 6:21 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2020 at the Memphis Police Department’s Ridgeway station. Officers were dispatched to 4334 Falcon Drive in the Westwood neighborhood of south Memphis. At the scene officers found two victims of gunshot wounds in a 2006 Mercedes.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The second was transported to Regional One Hospital where he later died. Officers determined that Quinterius Simmons and Darrin Wilson were sitting in the car when shots were fired. Two suspects were seen running from the area.

HOMICIDE

A Cold Case
It was 2:40 in the morning Sunday, October 7, 2018 when Memphis Police responded to a shooting in the parking lot of the Woodlake Apartments complex at Tchulahoma and Winchester. The exact address was 3304 S. Woodlake Circle.

On arrival the officers located a black sedan in the lot and then found Marie Barton, 33, who had been shot. She died at the scene. The information collected indicated there had been an attempted robbery or car jacking, resulting in Barton’s death.

A Cold Case
Memphis Police officers responded to a shooting report at 12:10 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017. They arrived at the location on Park Avenue between Echols and Goodman streets in east Memphis.

At the scene officers found a 2006 Kia SUV, which had struck a utility pole, as well as a male shooting victim lying in the street nearby and a second victim in the vehicle’s driver’s seat. The driver, Tadarius L. Tate and nicknamed “T.T.” died at the scene. He was 19 years old. The second victim survived.

HOMICIDE

A Cold Case
Memphis Police officers responded to reports of a shooting at 65 East Yates Road South, just south of Walnut Grove Road in east Memphis. It was just after midnight on Thursday, July 26, 2012 — eight years ago.

The arriving policemen found two bodies inside the residence. Both victims, later identified as Anthony Conte, 26, and Robert Schmidt, 30, had died of multiple gunshot wounds. Evidence found in the house indicated the two were killed during a robbery. Witnesses described hearing a vehicle speed away shortly after hearing shots fired.

MPD Cold Case investigators are asking any witness to the incident to call the Cold Case Hotline, (901) 636-2653, and leave a message for a call back, or CrimeStoppers, (901) 527-CASH (2274). Any information could be critical to solving this double murder. The City of Memphis and CrimeStoppers are offering $12,000 for information leading to the identity and arrest of those responsible.

Crime of the Week #21

July 17, 2020

HIT AND RUN

A hit and run accident was reported to Memphis Police at 9:54 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2019. Responding officers rushed to 774 Hollywood Street, just south of Jackson Avenue, to find a victim had been attempting to cross Hollywood when she was struck by a vehicle.

The woman was taken to Regional One medical center where she later died of her injuries. A witness told officers a white Dodge Challenger was responsible. The car left the scene and continued northbound on Hollywood.

Crime of the Week #20

July 3, 2020

HOMICIDE

A 2:44 a.m. report of a shooting sent officers from the Raines Station to the 5000 block of Horn Lake Road Friday, June 26, 2020. When they arrived in the Westwood neighborhood of south Memphis the officers found Tanesha McFadgon sitting in a gray Honda Civic and unresponsive.

Memphis Fire Department paramedics arrived and pronounced McFadgon dead. Officers ascertained that the victim had visited the Mini Mart a block away. She was returning home when she was shot. No other details were available.

Crime of the Week #19

June 26, 2020

HOMICIDE

The Memphis Police Department received a call at 11:30 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2020 of a shooting in the 3300 block of Covington Pike, north of Stage Road. Officers from the Austin Peay precinct were dispatched. At the scene they found gunshot victims, including one who died.

Edward Fouse was pronounced dead by Memphis Fire Department personnel at the scene. Officers learned that Fouse and several other people were standing under a carport when suspects nearby opened fire, striking Fouse and other victims with bullets.

Crime of the Week #18

June 5, 2020

HOMICIDE

It was one year ago — Friday, June 7, 2019 — when Memphis Police officers from the Tillman Station responded to a shooting at 152 E. Parkway North, the parking lot of Greater Lewis Street Missionary Baptist Church, in Midtown. There officers found Glenn Cofield lying behind his vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics.

Cofield and his wife had just returned to their vehicle after attending a fundraising event at a nearby home. Suspects left the parking lot via Poplar Avenue. May 29, 2020

HOMICIDE

The time was approaching 5 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2020 when Memphis Police officers were sent from the Crump Station to the scene of a shooting in the 400 block of Cambridge Ave., just south of East McLemore Ave. They found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Memphis Fire Dept. paramedics took the victim to Regional One where the man was pronounced dead.

Officers learned that shots had been fired from two vehicles near the intersection of Cambridge and S. Wellington St. No other information was available. Police need help solving this homicide. Anyone with information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers, 528-CASH (2274).
