April 17, 2020

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police Officers working out of the Old Allen Precinct responded to a shooting in the 800 block of Par Avenue, near Westside Park in North Memphis Saturday, April 11, 2020.

The officers soon found a young juvenile.

Aison Golden, 7, was unresponsive. Memphis Fire paramedics arrived and pronounced the boy dead at the scene.

Crime of the Week #10

April 10, 2020

HOMICIDE

The report of a shooting brought Memphis Police officers from the Tillman Street station to the 500 block of Haynes Street, just west of the Memphis Country Club at 8 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2020. Officers arrived to find three victims of gunshot wounds.

Eric Dean was pronounced dead at the scene. The others were transported to the hospital where victim Eric Small died. The third victim remains in the hospital.

Details from the scene revealed that the three victims were riding in a Chevy pickup truck when they encountered a white vehicle. When it got closer occupants in that vehicle began firing weapons into the truck.

April 3, 2020

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police officers stationed at Old Allen precinct responded to a shooting report at a Shell service station at 2711 Range Line Road in north Memphis at 11:30 p.m. March 30, 2020. When they arrived at the scene the officers found a gunshot victim. Ernest Powell was pronounced dead on the scene by Memphis Fire Dept. personnel.

The victim had been riding in a dark-colored Infinity M35X, going south on Range Line, when the vehicle was struck by gunfire and came to a stop. Detectives need help on this ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers — by calling or texting 528-CASH (2274).

March 27, 2020

HOMICIDE

Reports of a shooting brought Memphis Police officers to the 200 block of North Manassas Street, near Poplar Avenue, Saturday, March 21, 2020. On arrival officers found Martavius Taylor inside a vehicle. He was unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to Regional One Hospital by Memphis Fire Department personnel. The next day, Taylor died of his injuries.

Crime of the Week #7

March 6, 2020

HOMICIDE

A report of gunshots brought Memphis Police officers from the Raines Station to the area of Shelby Drive and Auburn Road at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2020. On the way to the scene police also received a call about a vehicle striking utility poles in the same vicinity.

On arrival the officers found a heavily-damaged gray Infinity G-35. Inside the car was Taquonn Bates. He was unresponsive and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Memphis Fire Department personnel arrived and a paramedic pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The investigation continues. HOMICIDE

Memphis Police Department dispatched officers from the Appling Farms precinct to the 300 block of South Birkshire Cove, off Raleigh-LaGrange Road in Cordova. On arrival they located a gunshot victim inside a house. Korey Dupree was pronounced dead at the scene by Memphis Fire Department paramedics.

Crime of the Week #5

February 21, 2020

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police officers from the Old Allen Station were asked to meet Memphis Fire Department personnel at the scene of a shooting near the intersection of Overton Crossing and Durham Drive in north Memphis just after 11 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2020. There officers found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Regional One hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police developed a description of a person of interest in the case. The man is described as black, five feet 10 inches tall, 140 to 160 pounds. He appeared to have a mustache and was wearing bleached blue jeans with tears on the front and back, black shoes, a red hooded jacket and possibly a Memphis Grizzlies hat.

February 7, 2020

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police officers from the Tillman Street station answered a call about a shooting at Mt. Olive Road and Pope Street, not far from Douglas High School. Officers arrived to find three gunshot victims. The three were transported to Regional One Hospital. One, Charles Preyer, was pronounced dead on arrival.

Officers learned that the three men were walking near the intersection when gunshots rang and all three were struck by bullets. Police are asking for the public’s help in this ongoing homicide and aggravated assault investigation. Citizens are asked to call or text CrimeStoppers at 528-CASH (2274). Calls are anonymous. January 31, 2020

HOMICIDE

Reports of a shooting brought Memphis Police officers from the Appling Farms Station to the 6200 block of Coteswood Road near Leichester Lane. When they arrived the policemen found Thomas Washington inside a silver Honda Accord. He had been shot and soon was pronounced dead by Memphis Fire Department paramedics.

Police learned that the victim was stopped on Coteswood when a blue sedan drove up. A male hopped out of the car and began shooting, then got back into the car, which fled the scene. The investigation is ongoing. Crime of the Week #2

January 17, 2020

HOMICIDE

When Memphis Police officers of the Ridgeway Station responded to a call about a shooting they found a gunshot victim lying in the grass along Pecan Lake Drive in The Woods at Ridgeway Apartments complex in Hickory Ridge. The man was identified as George Bee and was transported to Regional One Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officers learned that a male wearing a black hoodie had been seen chasing the victim. After canvasing the area they discovered a second victim sitting in a green vehicle in the nearby Legacy Apartments complex on Whispering Pines. Allen Watkins was pronounced dead at the scene.
