MEMPHIS, TN – Citizen tips to CrimeStoppers helped authorities in five murder cases during the past month.

Three of the five tips supplied information that identified homicide suspects. The other two tips provided the location of murder suspects who were at large.

“This is the largest number of solved homicide cases due to tips in one month’s time in our memory,” said David Wayne Brown, executive director of CrimeStoppers of Memphis and Shelby County.

These were the individuals charged with murder counts as the result of tips to 528-CASH (2274):

Jetarius Young for the shooting death of a man in the 700 block of Ioka Street June 25.
Dewaun Harris for the shooting death of a security guard at the Paradise Lounge on Winchester July 12.
Kenneth Riley, a juvenile, for the killing of a man and hiding his body in November of 2025.

Tips in July helped police find and capture two others already named by police in homicide cases. And in another case, homicide detectives arrested a woman who hid a firearm used in a homicide, thanks to a CrimeStoppers tip.

So far this year, 17 tips have led to charges and arrests in homicide cases. There were 24 homicides solved by tips in 2025 and 25 in 2024.

The three anonymous tipsters who identified suspects in July were each awarded $4,000 in cash.

A tip during the month about drug sales in a Whitehaven house also led to the arrest of three suspected organized gang criminals on multiple drug and gun charges.

MEMPHIS, TN – A CrimeStoppers cash award of more than $20,000 is available to anyone who can help authorities identify a trio of robbers in a brazen midday armed robbery August 29, 2025 outside a Kroger store at 1212 E. Shelby Drive.

A black Nissan Murano bearing an un-readable temporary tag parked behind a Loomis truck at 11:03 that morning. The masked gunmen held automatic rifles on the Loomis driver, ordered him to the ground, then grabbed an unspecified amount of cash in bags from inside the truck before fleeing. They were last seen driving northbound toward Raines Road.

Authorities believe the same three men are responsible for another Loomis robbery at an ATM outside a First Horizon bank in February. They fled that time with multiple containers of cash in a white Nissan Altima that was stolen and later found.

Loomis has provided $20,000 in the case, and CrimeStoppers of Memphis and Shelby County placed the money in a special account for awards. The amount will be in addition to whatever the CrimeStoppers Awards Committee of community volunteers decides will be paid out of regular CrimeStoppers funds.

The Memphis Police Department released descriptions of the suspects. All three are thinly-built black males wearing black hoodies, with masks hiding all but their eyes. Two men wore black pants and the other one wore white. Each was armed with an AR-style assault rifle.

“We believe there are people in the community who know who the robbers are,” said David Wayne Brown, executive director of CrimeStoppers. “We gladly will pay this significant amount at an undisclosed location for anonymous information to our tips line that helps bring about a charge and/or an arrest.”

Memphis, TN – CrimeStoppers of Memphis and Shelby County today announced a $5,000 award for information that helps authorities identify the shooter in the death of Jerry C. Shields, Jr. July 13, 2025.

Shields, who worked for UPS, was walking home early that morning along a busy stretch of Elvis Presley Boulevard at Elliston Street. He was only a few houses away from his destination when someone following him shot him in the back. The shooter also took Shields’ Sketchers shoes, his cell phone and umbrella.

The family has raised $1,000. The money added to the $4,000 CrimeStoppers will pay for anonymous information leading to an arrest or charge in the case, making the full award $5,000.

An additional $11,000 donation was received from the family by CrimeStoppers of Memphis and Shelby County from, thanks to a GoFundMe drive the family mounted. The amount has been added to the $10,000 CrimeStoppers already had posted in the homicide case.

Adams, 18 and a touted defensive end from New Orleans, was killed, and several others were injured, when gunfire erupted after a pool party in Cordova.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reported more than 40 rifle and pistol shell casings were found at a nearby residential scene. Chief Deputy Anthony Buckner said there are potentially several suspects in the case.
