$5,000 award posted in shooting death and robbery of man walking home

Memphis, TN – CrimeStoppers of Memphis and Shelby County today announced a $5,000 award for information that helps authorities identify the shooter in the death of Jerry C. Shields, Jr. July 13, 2025.

Shields, who worked for UPS, was walking home early that morning along a busy stretch of Elvis Presley Boulevard at Elliston Street. He was only a few houses away from his destination when someone following him shot him in the back. The shooter also took Shields’ Sketchers shoes, his cell phone and umbrella.

The family has raised $1,000. The money added to the $4,000 CrimeStoppers will pay for anonymous information leading to an arrest or charge in the case, making the full award $5,000.
