HOMICIDE
A Cold Case
A call came to the Memphis Police Department at 4:14 a.m. Saturday March 6, 2021 about a shooting. Officers assigned to the Appling Farms Station responded to a business at 5280 Elmore Road near Raleigh-LaGrange Road.
In the parking lot of the Beast Deal Automotive Repair shop they found a victim lying on the pavement. The man, later identified as Gerald Stewart, had been shot several times. Stewart, the owner of the business, was transported to Regional One Hospital but didn’t survive his injuries.
In the initial stages of the investigation of this murder detectives discovered that Stewart had received notifications on his phone from his business’s security alarm. He drove to the shop and encountered suspects on the property who then shot Stewart and fled in a mid-sized white sedan.
