HOMICIDE
Reports of a man down brought Memphis Police officers from the Raines Road Station to the 400 block of Howard Drive near Fairley High School at 11:21 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2021. At the scene the officers found Erik Smith in the street next to a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis with a Mississippi license plate.
Smith was unresponsive and had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers learned that a dark-colored SUV had been seen leaving the area right after the shots.
