January 11, 2019

HOMICIDE

It was nearly midnight on Tuesday, January 8, 2018 when two men in a red SUV dropped Derrico Houston at the emergency room door at St. Francis Hospital, 5959 Park Avenue in East Memphis.

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police officers from the Crump Blvd. station were sent to investigate a shooting call in the 1100 block of Rozelle Street, near Southern Avenue, at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2018. Arriving officers found a male on the ground and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim, identified as Mark Small, was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. He later died from his injuries. Police have determined that Small had been involved in a physical altercation with two male blacks before he was shot. It is believed the suspects fled the scene in a gray or red pickup truck, make and model unknown. HOMICIDE

A report of a car accident brought Memphis Police officers from the Old Allen Station to the intersection of Aden Street and Willow Wood Avenue, near Frayser Boulevard. The caller said a car had struck a tree but the caller was unsure how long ago it had happened or whether anyone was still in the vehicle.

Officers arrived and found Jeremy Webster inside a black 2007 Infinity G-35. He was unresponsive and appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound. Memphis Fire Department personnel were called to the scene and pronounced the victim had died. Officers learned that the victim’s family had reported him missing. HOMICIDE

At 9 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018 Memphis Police officers of the Tillman Station were dispatched to the intersection of Omar Robinson St. and Heard Ave. near Hollywood on a “shots fired” call. At the scene officers found a victim lying in the street and suffering from gunshot wounds.

Memphis Fire Department personnel were called to the scene. Marquez Jackson-Brazier, 28, was pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about this slaying is asked to contact CrimeStoppers, (901) 528-CASH (2274) for a possible reward.

Crime of the Week #45

December 14, 2018

HOMICIDE

At 6 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2018, friends of James Milliken, 68, went to check on him at his home in the 2700 block of Rangeline Road. There they found Milliken lying on the floor and unconscious or dead. Memphis Police officers and Memphis Fire personnel arrived and confirmed the death.

Crime of the Week #44

December 7, 2018

HOMICIDE

At 9:39 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2018, Memphis Police Officers from the Old Allen precinct rushed to Two Star Grocery at 1123 Dellwood Avenue near Highway 51 in North Memphis about a shooting. Upon arrival officers found Michael Norfleet on the ground near his vehicle. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding Memphis Fire Department personnel.

Officers determined that as Norfleet was approaching his vehicle on foot, several gunshots were heard and two males in hoodies were then seen running from the area. Anyone with additional information that might help solve this homicide case is asked to contact CrimeStoppers, 528-CASH (2274).

Crime of the Week #43

November 30, 2018

HOMICIDE

A report of a shooting in the Bent Tree Apartments on the 3400 block of Providence Drive north of Winchester Road came to the Memphis Police Department’s Raines Road station at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018. Officers arrived to find three unresponsive males lying on the floor of a residence and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The three — identified as Mujahad Muhammed, Kevin McNeil, and Mohamed Kane — all were pronounced dead at the scene by Memphis Fire Department personnel.

Officers learned that friends had gone to check on one of the men in the apartment and found the three on the floor. No other information, including time of the shootings, was available. November 16, 2018

HOMICIDE

It was approximately 2 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018 when Memphis Police officers from the Airways station officers responded to a shooting call at Pendleton Street and Burns Avenue, near the Orange Mound neighborhood. At the scene officers found a victim lying on the sidewalk and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The unidentified victim was pronounced dead on the scene by Memphis Fire Department personnel.

A suspect’s description is available. The man is, described as black, five feet eight inches, 160 pounds, 27-30 years old. He was wearing dark clothing and shoulder length dreads. Anyone with information that might help solve this murder is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2274).

Crime of the Week #41

November 9, 2018

HOMICIDE

It was about 9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 when MPD officers working at the Crump station reached the scene of a reported shooting in the 800 block of Edith Avenue, near Mississippi Boulevard and E. McLemore Avenue.

After arriving officers located two people suffering from gunshot wounds. Terrence Bowen was transported to Regional One where he later was pronounced dead. A second victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Officers learned that after the shooting one or more suspects left on foot. Because no other information was available, investigators need the public’s help to solve this crime.

Crime of the Week #40

November 2, 2018

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police responded to a shooting call at 1:03 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2017 in the 4300 block of Old Raleigh LaGrange Road. At the scene officers found Saul Rentario on the ground. He was suffering an apparent gunshot wound and was unresponsive. Rentaria was pronounced dead on the scene by Memphis Fire Department personnel.

A initial investigation determined that Rentaria was approached by a black vehicle occupied by two male blacks. One of the two exited the vehicle, armed with a black handgun, and approached Rentaria demanding money. Rentaria fled and was shot by the suspect, who got back into the vehicle which drove away.
