September 20, 2019

HOMICIDE

The report of a shooting brought Memphis Police Department officers of the Ridgeway Station to the Fox Hollow Townhomes in the 4800 block of Chestwood Drive, just south of Winchester Road at 8 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2019. Officers soon located Antonio Ware, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Memphis Fire Department personnel transported Ware to Regional One hospital where he later was pronounced dead.

At the crime scene police determined that the victim was sitting outdoors when a dark-colored vehicle drove by and the occupants fired shots, striking Ware. Police need help solving this murder. Anyone with information is asked to call or text CrimeStoppers, 528-CASH (2274).

August 30, 2019

HOMICIDE

A call was received at the Memphis Police Department’s Tillman Station at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2019 concerning a shooting in the 3300 block of Hardin Avenue near National Street in north Memphis. Officers were dispatched.

On arrival an officer located a male shooting victim on the sidewalk. He was unresponsive. The victim, Calvin Reed, Jr., was transported to Regional One hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Crime of the Week #33

August 23, 2019

HOMICIDE

The Memphis Police Department received a call about a shooting around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2019 and sent officers to 868 Chelsea Ave — the In and Out Market — near Vollintine in north Memphis. On arrival the officers found three victims, including Jerika Coleman and two males. All were suffering from gunshot wounds.

Coleman was transported to Regional One hospital where she later was pronounced dead. Officers determined that she had been sitting in a parked vehicle when a second, white vehicle with tinted windows drove by. Shots were fired from the second car.

Crime of the Week #32

August 9, 2019

HOMICIDE

The call of a “man down” came in at 9:14 a.m. August 12, 2019 to the Mt. Moriah Memphis Police station. Officers responded and on arrival began checking the area. They soon found Christopher Hall lying on the road at the nearby corner of Vanable and McMurray streets.

Hall had been shot and was pronounced dead on the scene. Officers learned that a black vehicle had been seen speeding away from the scene after shots were fired. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to help by contacting CrimeStoppers, 528-CASH (2274).

Crime of the Week #31

August 9, 2019

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police officers in the Raines Road Station responded to a shooting call at 443 E. Shelby Drive in Whitehaven at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, August 4, 2019. The officers arrived at a Valero Gas and Food Mart and found Alfonzo Daniel lying on the pavement.

Arriving Memphis Fire Department paramedics pronounced Daniel dead on the scene. Police determined that the occupants of a small SUV had fired several gunshots. The car last was seen traveling north on Hodge Road.

HOMICIDE

It was just before 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 when witnesses noticed several males hanging out at a vacant apartment in the 5500 block of Waterstone Oak Way, just off Ridgeway Road in southeast Memphis. A little later shots rang out and a call of a shooting was received by the Memphis Police Department’s Ridgeway Station.

When officers arrived at the Lakes of Ridgeway Apartments they located two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was taken to Regional One Medical Center. The second was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators need help identifying those responsible for this homicide case. HOMICIDE

Memphis Police officers assigned to the Raines Road station responded to a “man down” call at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2019 in the 4800 block of Dianne Street, just east of I-65 in south Memphis. On arrival the officers found an unresponsive male on the ground with a head wound.

He was transported to Regional One in critical condition and later was pronounced dead. His black 2012 Hyundai Elantra was discovered a short distance from where he had fallen. Witnesses had seen the victim hanging onto the vehicle as it sped down several roads. When the man’s vehicle stopped, a woman was seen leaving the car.

July 19, 2019

HOMICIDE

A report that a firearm was used at a Citgo gas station at 4251 Winchester Road on Saturday, July 13, 2019 brought Memphis Police officers to the scene from the Ridgeway station. The officers found Daniel Perry in his 2007 gray Infinity G35S. Perry was pronounced dead on the scene from a gunshot.

Officers determined that a male black suspect in a black shirt and brown shorts approached the victim’s car and got in on the passenger side. A short time later he was seen running from the vehicle.

Crime of the Week #27

July 12, 2019

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police officers responded to a shooting call at 8:44 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2019 in the 2800 block of South Mendenhall Road. On arrival the officers found an unresponsive man on the ground and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Memphis Fire Department personnel arrived and pronounced Justin Love, 22, dead at the scene.

Officers learned that Love was standing on the second floor balcony of his apartment when he was shot and fell over the railing onto the concrete walkway below. This homicide investigation is ongoing. June 28, 2019

HOMICIDE

Memphis Police officers from the Tillman precinct were investigating a crash on Jackson Avenue when they heard several gunshots fired near an AutoZone store at 4011 Jackson. It was 3:54 a.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2019. The officers rushed to that scene to find that a burgundy-colored Cadillac SUV had crashed into a nearby Family Dollar store at 3975 Jackson. The driver was suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Martin Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers learned that two male black suspects in a black vehicle — possibly a Nissan Altima — were responsible for the shooting. A full investigation is under way. Anyone with information on this homicide is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2274).
