HOMICIDE
It was about five minutes before 11 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2022 when the Memphis Police Department received reports of shots fired in the Bel Air Apartments, 2335 Pendleton Street off Lamar Avenue in south Memphis.
When officers arrived moments later they checked the area but saw no activity. A little more than two hours later, at 1:26 a.m. the next day, patrolmen stationed at the Airways Precinct responded to a report of a deceased person in Apartment 52, Building K at the same apartment complex. When they arrived they found a gunshot victim inside the apartment. Kodie Lewis was pronounced dead by paramedics with the Memphis Fire Department’s Squad 7.
