HOMICIDE
Memphis Police officers were dispatched from the Airways Station to respond to the report of a shooting at 10:39 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2020. They arrived in the 2700 block of Burns Avenue, just west of Lamar Avenue in South Memphis. They found Demarcus Drinkwater inside a silver Lexus ES 350, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Memphis Fire Department paramedics also arrived and pronounced Drinkwater dead at the scene. Officers determined that the victim was in his vehicle when shots were fired by one or more assailants.
