HOMICIDE
Memphis Police officers from the Mt. Moriah Station were dispatched to 3875 American Way — the Fairview Inn and Suites, just south of I-240 — to check a call about a shooting and a person down. On arrival officers found a man lying on the ground and suffering from gunshot wounds.
Fernando Florez Medina was pronounced dead on the scene by arriving Memphis Fire Department personnel. Officers learned that a female black suspect had been seen standing beside Medina after he collapsed. She then was observed fleeing the scene in a blue SUV parked nearby.
