HOMICIDE

A Cold Case
Memphis Police officers responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment at 109 N. Belvedere in Midtown about 10 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009. On arrival they located a shooting victim, who was transported to The Med (now Regional One Hospital) where he died.

The man, Fate Coaty, 36, apparently was shot during a robbery or burglary. Witnesses provided descriptions of two suspects in 2009.

Suspect number 1 was a black male, five foot nine to 11 inches tall, weighing 175 to 180 pounds, with a medium build and dark complexion. Suspect number 2 was described as a black male, six feet tall and with a dark complexion.

The suspects took a DVD or VCR player from the victim’s apartment and left the scene in a burgundy or red 4-door Ford Taurus. The vehicle had been loaned to Coaty by a friend.

Detectives need help identifying and arresting the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 528-CASH (2274).
